Some guitars are defined by their materials. Others are defined by the stories those materials carry.

This Deep Body Orchestra Model with Manzer Wedge is built with Sitka spruce salvaged from a barn fire — wood that had been quietly aging in storage for more than twenty years. Although part of the stock was lost in the blaze, these particular sets survived untouched. Their rich coloration comes not from fire, but from the long passage of time and decades of natural seasoning.

Yet the true loss was never just the wood.

What burned that day was the dream of a fellow guitar maker, who, in time, gave up his path in the craft. In building this instrument, Hozen chose not to let that story end there. Instead, he pressed on — transforming what remained into something beautiful, something living, something that could still sing.

The decorative rosette was chosen as a symbol of fire: not only as a remembrance of what was lost, but as a tribute to the builder whose hopes once rested in these pieces of wood. It stands as a quiet memorial — one that acknowledges both the fragility of dreams and the enduring power of craftsmanship.

This guitar is, in many ways, a continuation of a story that might otherwise have been forgotten.
